More than 370 historic homes and businesses were placed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 1984. Arcadia became a Main Street city in 1985. It was named the best small town in Florida. Stroll the sidewalks of Arcadia’s historic downtown area for a day of antique shopping and dining. Over 25 stores are located in the historic district of Arcadia, Florida. Some are open every day. Quite a few are closed on Mondays. Most have posted hours.
