Join Arcadia Garden Club Monthly Presentation on Bonsai trees, Monday, Dec. 2 at 12pm.

This presentation provides an introduction and overview of the art of bonsai, JAPANESE ART of GROWING and SHAPING MINATURE TREES IN CONTAINERS, using a Power Point that includes the history, principles, and the practice of this horticultural artform.
The presenter is enthusiastic practitioner, Kathrin Harris, who has lived in Sarasota for 27 years and began her study of bonsai over 16 years ago.
As a Sho Fu Bonsai Society member, Kathrin helped Selby Gardens establish the permanent bonsai exhibit there. She is the President of the Bonsai Societies of Florida, has frequently chaired the Exhibit of their Annual Convention, and learns from/works with visiting bonsai artists from around the state and internationally.
She has exhibited trees at Epcot’s Flower & Garden Show, the National Exhibit in NY, as well as local and state bonsai exhibits. She loves sharing her passion for this horticultural artform with others, having presented for Selby Gardens, Classroom on Wheels, Ringling’s OLLI, and various garden and civic clubs.
She will bring examples of different trees, tools, soil, pots, etc., as well as stands and companions to show how trees are formally displayed. She also does workshops.
Event is Free and Open to the Public. Homeschools are welcome.
