Art and Culture


Desoto Arts and Humanities Council is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization that promotes and encourages the arts in DeSoto County. DAHC was founded in 2006 to advocate, support, and develop the cultural climate of DeSoto County by promoting artists and encouraging the enjoyment of the arts and participation by our residents, students and visitors. DAHC is the Local Arts Agency for DeSoto County.

Join a Group

Membership in DAHC is not required to participate in these groups.

"Artists Group" Starting October 8,2012 will meet Monday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon in the Cantina Clubhouse in Arcadia Village, 2692 State Route 70 East. Call Clel at 863-494-2701 for more information.

"The DeSoto Writers Group" meets on the first and third Wednesdays of each month at the Siesta Clubhouse in Arcadia Village, 2692 State Route 70 East. Anyone with an interest in writing is welcome. Members read and critique each other’s work and guest speakers are scheduled occasionally. Sarah Hollenhorst is the group organizer, call her for more information at 863-244-1663.

"Photography Group" meets on the second Friday of each month at the Last Chapter Coffee Shop, 15 W. Oak St. from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Bring your camera and photos to share, and your questions about digital photography techniques. Occasionally field trips are scheduled.
