Located right on the Peace River, Brownville Park offers a convenient boat ramp to launch your kayak, canoe, or boat. Many kayakers and canoeists paddle north, up the picturesque Peace River, then turn around for a lazy tranquil float back. You are welcome to bring your camp gear and spend the night on one of our campsites. The next day, head downstream for more exploration of this timeless place.
The Peace River Frontier is rich in pioneer history as well as natural history. The fossil beds of the Peace River are world famous for significant paleontological finds. The river was utilized in the late 1800's and early 1900's as a source of commercial pebble phosphate.
This beautiful floodplain forest evokes the sense of real "Old Time Florida." In the center of the sweet gums and hickory bay heads is a beautiful live oak hammock. In the late evenings barred owls gather in these ancient oaks and perform an owl opera. Some evenings these owl recitals can become quite rambunctious.
Nestled beneath the antique oaks are campsites, both electric and non-electric. A dump station is available for RV guests. The nearby restrooms include shower facilities. Reservations are not required, but are recommended for holiday weekends and the busy winter season.

For nonprofit recognized groups, there are group areas available for rental. Each can accommodate 20 people.trailhead
Day visitors ($2 charge) are welcome to explore this beautiful 75 acre park. A simple loop nature trail, perfect for small children, can be found on the south side of the park. On the north side are more extensive trails ideal for exploration. Many visitors to Brownville Park fish from the river banks, and countless guests arrive with their families ready to picnic. Brownville Park offers recreational opportunities in a gorgeous natural setting with a family ambience.
Deep Creek Preserve/Park
Proximity to the Charlotte Harbor estuary is reflected in the tidal nature of the river and its associated floodplain wetlands. The Peace River is highly braided in these lower reaches and the name of the property is derived from a prominent branch of the river, known historically as “Deep Creek,” which parallels the eastern boundary of the site.
About half of the property is pine flatwoods consisting of longleaf pines and a diverse mixture of native shrubs and herbs. A large number of freshwater marshes and wet prairies dot the landscape, and a series of intermittent streams discharge overflow from these wetland areas into Deep Creek during periods of high water. Narrow ridges of well-drained oak scrub and scrubby flatwoods line the margins of several of the creeks. Tidal swamp, bordered by small areas of salt marsh and mangrove forest, dominates the riverine floodplain.
A small area of improved pasture accounts for the only portion of the property that has been altered substantially from its natural state. The pasture’s location, near the intersection of Kings Highway (CR 769) and SW Peace River Street, provides convenient access.

Florida law requires equestrians under 16 to wear helmets.

Contact Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for license requirements.
Hiking
9-mile network of multiuse trail roads.
Prepare for wet hiking; some trails are excessively wet during certain times of year.
